Omicron Primary School Modeling Tool

Explore the impact different types of mitigation strategies can have on Omicron outbreaks in primary schools

On November 26th, 2021, the World Health Organization declared the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 a Variant of Concern (VOC). Since then, the Omicron variant has spread rapidly throughout the world and has become the dominant circulating variant within the United States.

The purpose of this model is to provide a scenario-simulating tool that can be used to examine how viral testing and vaccine booster adoption can be used to reduce transmission in workplace, university and other group settings in the context of the Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variant.

This tool uses the SEIRS+ model and was developed in collaboration with modeling experts Carl Bergstrom and Ryan McGee from the University of Washington.
